Our Beliefs

The passion we dedicate to our work as luthiers is not limited to the construction of instruments. We believe that it is important to broaden our gaze towards the environment and the community, trying to share and give even more meaning and beauty to an art we love so deeply.

Environment

We believe that in violin making all species at risk of extinction such as ebony and rosewood should be replaced with more ecological alternatives.

We feel the urgency of this choice.

Innovative materials

For fingerboards, saddles and crowns we choose materials that are engineered to be identical to ebony for density, tactile experience and tone.

In our search for ecological alternatives to ebony we choose some of the most technologically advanced companies available.

Local Fittings

For our fittings we use varieties of wood that are easily available locally to help promote less used species in modern violin making, but of common use in the classical period.

We broaden our selection of materials researching species that reflect our standards of functional and aesthetic performance.

Our Forest

We thought long and hard about how to use our ebony stock, and the project “ Our forest”was born, in collaboration with Treedom..

To promote the transition towards instruments that are completely free from any endangered species of timbers, we decided to invest part of our profits towards donations of trees in rural areas in various parts of the world. It is a way to grow a forest that expresses our and our clients commitment in this.

Community

We believe sharing knowledge to be a form of inclusion and we think it is important to engage, mainly locally, in spreading the culture around violin making and the fascinating world of classical music.

For this reason we collaborate with entities rooted in the local territory engaged in the field of teaching.

Workshop Secrets

Thanks to a consolidated collaboration with the association “MaMu Cultura Musicale” we have offered several interactive teaching projects in the workshop. Here we unveil to children and youngsters some of the secrets hidden in a violinmaker’s workshop.

Eliana, Her Mission

We care about the social inclusion projects that Eliana Gintoli has been involved with in the milanese territory.

We are greatly inspired by the strength and ability she has to convey the love for music to young people from difficult contexts.

We are proud to support her with maintenance and repairs.

Luthiers Sans Frontières

In 2010 we collaborated with the NGO “Luthiers sans frontiéres” at a violin making workshop in Cuba.

A very rewarding experience, with an intense participation of the people in a country where music is part of life.
