Cellos

Gibertoni&Nalin, Milan 2022

(Model: Antonio Stradivari, 1710)

Based on the famous “Gore Booth” violoncello, this model is a staple in the modern cello making.

We wanted to create an extremely versatile and high-performing instrument. We reached this result thanks to many experimentations over the years.

In a slightly reduced in length and narrow soundbox is enclosed a direct, crystalline sound, that can produce a very wide expressive palette in low-volume environments as well as in more demanding conditions.

This instrument was chosen as the best sounding instrument by the players and the audience in the 2022 Paris Competition, and placed third in the overall ranking.

Gibertoni&Nalin, Milan 2021

(Model: Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, 1757)

This unique model is one of our most beloved and appreciated. Inspired by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini’s milanese period, we analyzed and reproduced the “Teschenmacher”, a cello with distinctive features. Its body is studied to be comfortable for everyone, especially minute players. With a small back and the ribs expanding in width and length towards the front, it also has a reduced ribs’ depth; all this results in a model that can be held easily, without compromising its playability and its tonal output.

Upper Bout: 334/343 mm

Center Bout: 238/252 mm

Gibertoni&Nalin, Milan 2020

(Model: Giuseppe Guarneri “Filius Andreae”, 1692)

Part of the collection of the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Music in Milan, the instrument we took inspiration from is a fascinating example of the work of Giuseppe Guarneri, still working in his father’s workshop. For the scroll we took inspiration from another instrument made in the same year, kept in the Royal Academy of Music in London. This model features slightly shorter body length, keeping a full size width, following Giuseppe’s experimentations on proportions. Its wide upper and lower bouts ensures a deep and silky tone, a great playability and a broad expressive palette.

This unique model is one of our most beloved and appreciated. Inspired by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini’s milanese period, we analyzed and reproduced the “Teschenmacher”, a cello with distinctive features. The scroll is taken from the “Ngeringa”cello, made in 1743. Its body is studied to be comfortable for everyone, especially minute players. Thanks to its 7/8 size back and a reduced ribs’ depth it can be held easily, without compromising its playability (being the string length almost standard) and its tonal output.

Upper Bout: 335/343 mm

Center Bout: 242/259 mm

Lower Bout: 422/430 mm
